The San Francisco Tesla Society
Presents a free lecture by

Joe Tate

"Seismic Early Warning Systems"

Sunday, March 11, 2001 1:00 p.m.
at 3220 Sacramento Street (near Lyon)
San Francisco, California

Joe Tate is currently an electrical engineer at Umevoice. He is also a long time seismic researcher with a track record of successful earthquake prediction via electromagnetic precursors. He returns to the San Francisco Tesla Society after 6 years with his research,    theories and data.

         Joe Tate with his data

Many years ago, Joe accidentally stumbled on the science of electromagnetic earthquake precursors while    gathering data on background EM power levels as part of an investigation into the practical applications of using background EM radiation to power small digital clocks.

In the 1980’s Joe founded Ambient Research of Sausalito, California to investigate the precursors. Tate and William Daily of Lawrence Livermore Lab deployed several battery powered EM chart recorders from San Francisco to San Diego in a 3 year study for the U. S. Geological Survey. Of the 46 earthquakes of 4.0 magnitude and above which occurred within 120 miles of the recorders, 32 of the quakes were preceded by EM precursors. Of the other 14 quakes without observed radio precursors, none measured above magnitude 4.2 . The results of their study was published in Physics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors in October of 1989

A number of other researchers at Stanford and elsewhere have noticed the same phenomena and are studying it. Sadly, this is a promising area of research which doesn’t receive anywhere near the level of funding that it deserves.
